This was one of my first aurora pictures. It was around midnight and I was about to go to bed when I saw on social media that the aurora was out. I went outside and fumbled with my camera trying to capture a decent image. I got lucky when the aurora suddenly became really bright that the light from the near by street lamp didn't matter. It actually illuminated the birch tree in the foreground, which created a really nice contrast of colors between the northern lights and the autumn leaves.
